Dallas Outdoor Living Space

Our clients’ goal for this exterior project was to renovate the pool, add a hot tub, build an outdoor living pavilion, replace all the failed concrete patios and pool deck, and replace the landscaping and stone retaining walls.  We rallied our team of design professionals that included our architect to design the pavilion structure, pool builder/renovator and a landscape designer to work together to provide the overall design makeover.

The pavilion design included key elements from the house that includes white builder’s stone, large scale cedar timbers and a standing seam metal roof.  The plan included key elements that the homeowners requested including a masonry fireplace, an alfresco dining area that will seat 8-10 guests, a casual sitting area to relax and unwind in front of the fireplace, a TV and a Bluetooth sound system. Our lighting designer ensured the structure was properly lit for function as well as creating a dramatic nighttime visual effect. Custom louvered panels were built from Spanish cedar to act as a visual barrier to the neighbors’ yard while maintaining good air-flow on those hot Texas summer days.

The pool shell was restored and re-plastered with a wet-edge matrix pebble in jet black. The diving board was replaced with a more modern dive platform and the pool deck cantilevered over the pool and cannon jets were added. State of the art pool equipment and filtration systems were installed that included the latest energy efficient Intellitouch computer controls.

The landscaping was completely re-designed to complement the new hardscape, pool and pavilion. The use of black stone and large format concrete stepping pads now enhance the new pool and pavilion areas while creating a Zen-like atmosphere.
